I think. I write. I believe. I love.

  • love?

To me, love has no definition. Yet, when you look it up it is often defined as “a personal, tender affection” or “warm attachment” I guess we as humans feel that we need physical evidence to justify just feelings and situations. To me, you can’t define love. It’s a feeling that differs from pair to pair, soul to soul. No single person is the same and no single love is the same. There are different types: you don’t love your mother the same way you love your husband. “I love this cereal” has a much different meaning than “I love my grandmother with all of my heart.” Love has no single definition and yet we toss it around like a little beanbag toy. Sometimes, we think we love something or someone and give it a few months and all of a sudden we hate it so was it really love we were feeling in the first place? Love has no single permanent definition and we treat her like the dirt beneath our feet when we should place her on the highest pedestal. We must let love live boundlessly lest we bound her with words and definition. We must let love be free.

  • Even when I don’t procrastinate,

I still procrastinate. Even when I get everything done early, there’s still seems like there is so much more to do. But then again, I think I may enjoy it better in a way. Because what will I do when I have time to do nothing?

  • Great Day: October 8- Rewarding Action

When you don’t feel like making the effort, that’s when making the effort will make the biggest difference for you. Instead of giving in to negative momentum, interrupt it.

The best way to feel like doing it, is to do it. Step beyond your negative feelings and reward yourself with some positive action.

Feeling sorry for yourself will just give you more reasons to feel sorry for yourself. Ignore the temptation for self pity and embrace the opportunities for immediate self improvement.

Your attitude is not somebody else’s fault. Your attitude is yours to choose, so choose an attitude that will empower and propel you.

The way to feel better is to do better. The way to do better is with positive, effective action.

Pay attention to your feelings, but don’t use them as excuses. Be effective, get it done, and see how great you feel.

    — Ralph Marston

  • Maya Angelou, “Still I Rise”

    sharingpoetry:

You may write me down in history
    With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.

    Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
‘Cause I walk like I’ve got oil wells
    Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
    With the certainty of tides,
    Just like hopes springing high,
    Still I’ll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
    Bowed head and lowered eyes?
    Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
    Weakened by my soulful cries.

    Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don’t you take it awful hard
‘Cause I laugh like I’ve got gold mines
Diggin’ in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.

    Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I’ve got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history’s shame
    I rise
Up from a past that’s rooted in pain
    I rise
I’m a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.

Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
    I rise
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
    I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
    I rise
    I rise
    I rise.

  • Supporting Musicians.

While I’l admit, I haven’t always been one to buy every single song I have had in my iPod (let’s be honest, we’ve all done it at least once right?”, I do believe in supporting artists I truly like by buying their works. They’re out there trying to live and make a buck just like the rest of us, so why not? And to be honest, it’s really not about the money. The true musicians out there live, breathe, eat, sleep, ARE in themselves their music. They are trying their best to touch the world in the one way they know how: through beats and lyrics.  Who are we not to support someone who puts their all into making music for our satisfaction? They deserve some ounce of gratification. So maybe the next time you’re contemplating typing the album leak search into google, think bout how hard this person worked and how big a favor you would be doing by purchasing their music and showing you appreciate them.

It felt amazing when I stepped outside at 7:47 this morning. It actually felt like fall even though it isn’t officially here yet. I love it so much. It’s not too warm and humid but not too cold at the same time. Just a rather calm atmosphere and so now we just wait for the leaves to turn and flow softly to the ground. I will always love fall.
